Dr. Dan's Story
I thought you might like to learn about the person you are working with...
I have been blessed with many evolutional shifts in my life, and I serve others because I am fueled by watching people shift their own lives. It is a true blessing that the knowledge I have gained can help others have a more fulfilled life experience. The following is my story, and what lead me to be in your life today.
Ever since I was a child I have been intrigued by people. I often "coached" friends through challenges they were having in their life. My connection to others was through being the understanding and compassionate person in their life. I would enter deeply into the conversation, coach them on their situation and then would back away and watch.
As I grew older, my analytical side took over. I became focused on "perfection" and lost touch with some of my compassion. My need to be perfect and my need to please others drove me to success in school. I followed my father's example of being a strong businessman; I decided to get a business degree and was successful in the corporate business world for five years. However, I was not fulfilled by the promotions and the bigger and better job.
My best friend had an interest in helping people get well. After much searching, he decided on going to chiropractic school. I decided to try traditional chiropractic and one day found myself not needing to purchase any more antacids, which I was using constantly. For vacation, my best friend and I would go to chiropractic seminars. Seeing the possibility of being a catalyst for change in people's lives brought me from a business career to chiropractic school.
My entire chiropractic school experience was a time of immense personal growth for me. I learned how miraculous the body was philosophically and intellectually. I was blessed with the amazing experience of seeing my patients getting well by moving a bone in their spine. This confirmed in me the existence of an innate intelligence within the body, which controlled and coordinated all things in the body. It showed me the possibility of unleashing its power by removing the interference. These experiences, along with my digging into philosophy, lead me to the belief in the existence of a universal intelligence, which I later identified as God.
My next awakening was when I started to see how what I ate had an effect on who I was in the world. As I made healthier choices, I had more sustained energy. I removed dairy from my diet for 30 days, then decided to eat a dairy dessert and I was hit with one of the worst hangovers of my life...from eating dairy. By removing it from my diet and reintroducing it I was able to see the effect it was having on my life. This began my journey on learning "how to eat healthy." I went through many variations over the years in search of what are the essential elements of a healthy diet.
My next evolutional shift was my first NUCCA adjustment which gave me the first glimpse of what life could be like without consistent underlying irritability. The removal of the brain stem pressure changed the way I related to the outside world. It allowed me to truly relax and stop trying to control every situation in my life. During this time, I was going to personal growth seminars and I embarked upon some deep emotional work. I learned to journal my thoughts and feelings, and share them with trusted others.
My next and most dramatic evolutional shift was developing a personal relationship with Christ. For the first time in my life I understood how I could be alone, and not be lonely. I began looking for guidance from Christ, and knew that my life is meant to be profound. I began to gain confidence in my actions. I understood for the first time that I could be fulfilled by my relationship with Him. Through much prayer, I was guided to discontinue an engagement that was not in God's plan for me. I confronted my need to be a perfectionist, and how it was driven by a lack of trust in God. Christ shed me of my need for perfectionism. Connecting with a christian small group of has also been profound. The small group experience of sharing what's going on in my life, and supporting others by listening and praying with them has created consistent growth, through great times and challenging times. I am consistently astonished that even in times of my life when I drift from Christ being my priority Jesus is always patiently waiting for me to follow his lead. I am forever thankful for everything He has done and continues to do for me.
Next, I began digging in and learning what is truly possible with nutrition. I tried different diets from Vegan, to Paleo to Keto. to Whole 30. I started reading numerous books and taking hundreds of hours of clinical nutritional seminars. I learned the importance of removing foods that are causing inflammatory reactions in your body. I learned that we need a balance of healthy animal products, vegetables (50% cooked, 50% raw) with some fruit and avoiding the center of the grocery store. I began to learn how each of us have unique deficiencies, and how to properly supplement their current diet. I started using professional grade vitamins, and herbs with myself and patients. I witnessed the enhanced and long term health response in my patients.
My next evolution was meeting learning from giants in clinical nutrition. Attending countless seminars, I began to develop my unique understanding of what it took to get people well. I learned the importance of taking the supplements that will strengthen the endocrine/neural-hormonal system. I learned a form of intuitive testing to be able to help discern the ideal supplements for each patient's unique physiology. Then I continued to learn more and more about laboratory testing. I learned the importance at looking at optimal functional levels on bloodwork as well as, when to use enhanced laboratory testing to dive deeper into different clinical issues.
My next evolution was learning emotional release techniques to assist in the patients' healing. This took time to learn and master, but the importance for comprehensive healing became quite evident through the process.
Over my 20 + years the development of each of the Core 4 to Wellness principles has enhanced my health and my experience of life as well as my patients. I know my life has profoundly shifted because of this work. It is truly a blessing from God, that while I am achieving true health personally by using this work, and I also get to use it to help my patients. I get to be fulfilled in watching the change that is happening in my patients’ lives by facilitating them to accept the opportunities that God constantly gives for our healing and evolution.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with you and may God Bless you on your road to health.
