Juicing Your Way to Health
I wanted to write a quick article on the importance on juicing fresh vegetables. In my practice I teach people how to get health on a daily basis. I teach the principles of health and what foods to move towards and what foods to move away from. I use whole food supplements to help people reach their true potential. I am blessed with seeing many people transform their health and wellbeing. With all this said, I am continually amazed at what fresh juicing of vegetables can bring about for my patients, even with just adding two 8oz glasses of fresh juice daily.
Fresh juicing can fill in nutritional deficiencies, it can help restore vitality and it can help detoxify gently. I have personally watched patients who bring juicing into their diet routinely be able to lose weight when they were unable to before. It satisfies the sweet tooth, while giving you liquid nutrients that are very readily absorbed. There really is not much digestion that has to happen with fresh juicing, even with a compromised digestive system you can still reap the benefits.
I have seen patients who were in pain, do a juice fast, nothing but eight 8oz glasses of fresh juice for 1 to 7 days see miracles happen. Everything else they tried, didn’t work and this alleviated their pain. I have seen people suffering with allergies, no longer suffer if they do a juice fast at the beginning of allergy season. I also have seen energy levels rise, and an increased level of happiness with juicing. There is something about the fresh live juices that vitalize us. Whenever I feel a little run down, I do a juice fast and get revitalized!
The base in most juicing is carrots. They have a powerful restorative effect on the body. If you are new to juicing you can start with carrots and an apple. Then move onto carrot, apple, spinach. Then move on to adding darker leafy greens like dandelion, kale, red leaf lettuce etc.
There are a wealth of good juice recipes out there and some special recipes for special ailments. Such as cabbage juice is great for healing ulcers. Just imagine that God has put all the nutrition in food for us to heal, we just need to get enough of the right foods to make a restore our health.
My favorite juicer is the Breville juice fountain plus. It is powerful and easy to clean. You will want to consume the juices on the same day that you made them with any centrifugal juicer. The press juicers may give you some more nutrients, but they take longer and are harder to clean. For the average user the Breville is the best. Have fun juicing!
