Elizabeth Sanford's Full Story
of her battle with Lung Cancer
June 14th 2008 was a dreadful day for Elizabeth. What Elizabeth thought would be a simple visit to the local quick-care facility due to common cold symptoms would end up being the beginning of a long battle with lung cancer.
After being checked out by the local physician, Elizabeth was recommend to see a cardiologist due to fluctuations in her heart. Consequently, many tests were performed on Elizabeth to acquire where and what the problems in her heart were stemming from. June 18th, 2008 - The doctors came back with the results: it was lung cancer. The cardiologist and accompanying doctors gave her no hope and one choice of treatment: a combination of chemotherapy and radiation. Surgery was not an option due to the severity of the disease.
Devastated and filled with distraught, Elizabeth discussed other all natural options with her daughter, Judy. Chemo and radiation simply had too many cons.
Elizabeth prayed and asked God for guidance. From there, Judy stumbled upon Hallelujah Acres after talking with an aunt. After ordering several books and discussing nutritional guidelines with consultants form Hallelujah Acres, Judy know that she would have to have a coach to guide her with the choice of holistic care. The consultants for Hallelujah Acres lead Elizabeth and Judy to Dr. Dan Kuehne, who would be an instrumental tool in Elizabeth's wellbeing for the next two and 3/4 years. Although Elizabeth and Judy faced much adversity from peers and other individuals, they both took a leap of faith and began the journey with Dr Dan in recovering and restoring Elizabeth's health. Elizabeth took supplements, drank juice from fresh vegetables, began a strict diet, and implemented exercise into her daily routine. Judy supported her mother every step of the way by also eating health and giving up her life long habit of coffee drinking.
Elizabeth and those around her saw great improvements! Not only had Elizabeth lost weight (from 230 to 130 lbs.), but she also had more energy and was the happiest she had been in years! In fact, on June 18, 2010, Elizabeth outlived her medical doctors' expectations!
However, temptations from those around her began to seep into Elizabeth's life-stlyle. Elizabeth began to stop taking her nutritional supplements, quit drinking her fresh juice and began to corrupt her healthy diet with other foods that worked against her. As a result, Elizabeth began to slowly decline. Her first trip to the hospital due to straying from her diet was October 28th, 2010. This was just one of the many battles she came up against.
On November 6th, 2010 Elizabeth was in the ICU for three days due to fluid buildup on hte lungs and again in December. Elizabeth's was hospitalized for a weekduring her December visit. Elizabeth's body increasingly became weaker, and she threw a blood clot March 8th, 2011, just 6 days after her 73rd birthday. After a month of hospitalization and a comatose state, she was carried home where her family cared for her for the next month.
After battling with the sickness, she went on to be with Jesus, on May 15th, 2011. Elizabeth would not have made it as far as she had withouth the help of her friend and doctor, Daniel Kuehne. Thank you, Dr Dan, for all your help and encouragement. You have made such a differencein not only Elizabeth's life, but the life of her family as well.
